Keeps Review: Does it Work for Hair Loss?

Keeps Review: Does it Work for Hair Loss?

If you are wanting a hair loss program and not simply a hair loss product, Keeps may be exactly what you’re searching for.

There is little information about Keeps and on the exact methods that Keeps uses, but there are plenty who love the Keeps program, which is why it is worth taking a look at.

About The Keeps Company

The Keeps company is fairly well-known, but it is not a company that everyone knows about. This hair company was started by two friends who met in college named Steve and Demetri.

When they first met, they both had full heads of hair, and they quickly became close.

Keeping in touch with each other after college, these two men were still close ten years later. It was at this point that Steve’s hair began to show some obvious signs of thinning. Therefore, both men started working together to see what they could do for Steve’s hair.

Their goal was to find a hair treatment that was convenient, effective, and affordable. However, through substantial trial and error, they could find nothing that seemed to meet their expectations. Because of this, Steve and Demetri decided to remedy this problem, forming Keeps to help other people like Steve.

The goal of the Keeps company is to help guys who want to stop their hair loss but who may need products that are easy and inexpensive.

The Keeps company may not have developed products that are truly unique, but they make sure that what they offer will work.

The Keeps company has two medical advisors that make sure that Keeps products do what they claim.

The first advisor is Dr. Jerry Shapiro, MD. Dr. Shapiro is easily one of the most experienced hair dermatologists in the world. He has written books, papers, and he also is a Professor of Dermatology.

The second of the Keeps medical advisors are Dr. Antonella Tosti, MD.

Dr. Tosti is an expert in various hair disorders and has written even more papers on hair loss than Dr. Shapiro has. She is so well-known in this area that she even has a hair disorder named after her.

Keeps

How Keeps Works

In order to get started with the Keeps program, your first step will be to fill out a questionnaire. This is found on their site and will only take a few minutes to do.

One of the Keeps physicians will review the information and will get back with you in 24 hours.

At this point in the signup process, you can ask any questions, and you can then order your treatment. This will arrive in about a week at your doorstep after your order is placed.

You will get a Keeps confirmation email, which you can check for details.

Joining Keeps will get your Keeps products auto shipped to you every three months with a Keeps licensed physician who reviews your progress.

You can track your progress using their site and adjust your plan whenever you want to.

You will also be required by Keeps to consult with one of the Keeps doctors regularly.

The first Keeps consultation is free, but each visit after that will require you to pay a fee.

Keeps will reach out through their secure patient portal regularly to check up with you.

As mentioned, which products you are sent will vary according to what might best work for you.

No matter which Keeps product you get, there are certain things that you can be assured of.

First, all Keeps products are backed by scientific research. Keeps products are also all both FDA approved and doctor recommended.

Finally, Keeps products are affordable and are matched to your exact condition. This allows you to use them with the confidence that they will work for you.

There are only a handful of Keeps products, so knowing what these are can help give you an idea of which product you can expect.

Finasteride 1mg

This is the first of the Keeps products and is one that comes in the form of a daily pill. Finasteride can be taken either with or without food and any time of day. However, it is best to take this pill at close to the same time every day for the best effect.

Finasteride helps with hair loss by blocking the DHT that is largely responsible for pattern baldness. This Keeps treatment is FDA-approved and has been proven to reduce the spread of a receding hairline and to boost hair growth.

In some cases, Finasteride can stop hair loss entirely. This works on your hairline, crown, and the vertex of your scalp. However, according to the clinical trials, there were certain side effects of using Finasteride.

There are also a couple of warning that people taking Finasteride should be aware of. First, you should not handle any pill that has been crushed or broken, especially if you are a woman.

Also, if you miss a Finasteride dose and you are halfway to the time to take your next one, you should skip it.

Finasteride should never be taken by women, and it can affect hormone levels. This hair growth pill should also not be taken if you have kidney or liver problems or cancer.

In addition, Finasteride can cause an allergic reaction.

The most common Finasteride side effects either fall in the realm of allergic reactions or affect your bladder, testicles, or breast. This includes an inability to urinate, breast tenderness, decreased libido, and other like symptoms.

It can take three months for Finasteride to work and, if you stop taking it, the results you do get will be reversed.

Finally, when taking Finasteride, you are ineligible to donate blood, and this pill can interfere with prostate cancer tests.

Keeps before and after

Minoxidil 5%

The Keeps Minoxidil is a liquid solution that you must apply directly to your scalp. It comes with a marked dropped so that you can use exactly 1ml twice a day.

Directions on how to apply this liquid Minoxidil are included, and you should not use it more often than directed.

Your scalp needs to be dry before you use your Minoxidil, and it should stay dry for a few hours after applying it.

You don’t have to wash your hair to apply it, but your scalp should be at least mostly clean. You should also know that Minoxidil can interfere with your hair color too.

This Keeps Minoxidil product is meant to increase hair growth if your hair loss is due to hereditary factors.

Specifically, Minoxidil is meant for men with male pattern baldness. Women should not use extra-strength Minoxidil products like this one.

Like other Keeps products, this one comes with a few cautions of its own.

First, this Minoxidil is for external use only and is not meant to be ingested. Second, do not apply Minoxidil to any skin that has been broken.

There are certain side effects Minoxidil can cause that you should watch for as well. Some of these are dizziness, headaches, itching, rashes, swelling in your hands or feet, and palpitations. If you faint, have chest pains, or experience sudden weight gain, you should stop using it and tell your doctor immediately.

Finally, this Minoxidil may cause added shedding during the first month of your applying it.

After that, this Keeps product should start showing improvement in your hair within 3 to 4 months of using it.

If you stop using this Keeps Minoxidil, however, your new hair that you gained will fall back out.

Minoxidil Foam 5%

This Keeps Minoxidil Foam is much like the liquid Minoxidil that Keeps sells.

Instead of using a dropper, you fill a capful halfway with the foam. However, this is still done twice a day and is meant for external use only.

Any form of Minoxidil is meant for hereditary hair loss in men and is not meant for women to use.

Massage the Minoxidil foam into your scalp with your fingers and then immediately wash your hands. Your scalp is required to be dry, but you don’t have to wash your hair in between each application.

When applied twice daily on a consistent basis, it can take 2 to 4 months before you see hair regrowth.

If, after four months, you are not seeing results, then the Minoxidil is not working for you, and you should try something else.

If you use too much Minoxidil, or in any way get too much of it on your skin, you may need to contact a poison control center or go to an emergency room.

Do not get any of this foam in your eyes, nose, or mouth, and don’t apply it if there is any damage on your scalp that might let the Minoxidil get in your bloodstream.

Most of the side effects of this Keeps Minoxidil are the same as they are for the liquid Minoxidil. However, there are a few added ingredients that make it take the form of foam. These can cause reactions too.

Like the liquid, the foam Minoxidil can cause hair loss at first. This Minoxidil foam can also affect your hair color or texture.

Continued use of this Keeps products is necessary to keep your hair regrowth, with loss of gained hair usually happening in 3 or 4 months.

Ketoconazole Shampoo

Keeps Hair

This shampoo from Keeps takes a different approach to your hair loss.

Primarily, Ketoconazole is a shampoo that focuses on fungal problems. This shampoo can not only treat certain fungal infections, but it can also help with yeast infections too.

Ketoconazole, also sometimes known as Nizoral, directly fights the various fungal infections that can infect your scalp and cause you to lose your hair. It is applied to both the affected area and the surrounding scalp as well.

Like most hair loss shampoos, this Keeps shampoo does need to be left in your hair for a few minutes after being thoroughly massaged in. You should not only rinse the Ketoconazole out of your hair, but you should also wash it off of your hands thoroughly after applying it.

Avoid getting any Ketoconazole in your eyes, nose, or mouth. It is possible to overdose on Ketoconazole, in which case you may need to go to the hospital or to contact a poison control center. Only use the suggested amount of this shampoo, no more.

You should also give your doctor a curtesy call to verify that this shampoo won’t interfere with your medications. You shouldn’t use anything else with chemicals on your scalp without getting approval first.

Some Ketoconazole side effects can include rashes, itching, hives, pain, tingling, numbness, and swelling of the face, lips, or tongue.

As a fungal treatment, you should not stop using this shampoo until you complete the full course. If the symptoms from the Ketoconazole are severe, contact your doctor.

Your infection should be cleared up by the shampoo within a few weeks at most. In the meantime, the Ketoconazole may cause your hair to become slightly discolored and have an abnormal texture.

If you have a perm, using this shampoo may remove the curl.

Costs Of Keeps

Some of the costs of Keeps are very straightforward. However, there are a few hidden costs for the program that can catch you by surprise.

The first one is that of the doctor’s consultations. While Keeps offers the first one for free, you have to pay for each one after that.

You are required to have a consultation a minimum of once per year, preferably more often. This meeting is done over the phone or from your computer, so you still don’t have to leave your home.

On top of that, each Keeps product that you might be given will cost you a monthly fee. The Finasteride will cost you $25 per month.

The liquid Minoxidil will cost $10 per month, while the foam Minoxidil will cost you $15 per month, and the Ketoconazole Shampoo will cost the same $10 per month.

Each shipment will cost you $3 for shipping on top of the cost of the product or products themselves.

Advantages Of Using Keeps

The Keeps program has a lot going for it. Not only is it more than just a single product, but it is also a full program with doctors and pharmacists. These people can answer questions, give advice, and help ensure you get what you need.

In addition, Keeps has a blog on its website that gives some useful information.

The articles Keeps publishes go over in more detail what you can expect with the product you are given. There are also ones on the various causes of hair loss and different hair loss myths.

You get all of this Keeps stuff without having to leave your home since the products are shipped to you. There are also tools on the Keeps site that allow you to track your progress and see how well the hair treatment is working for you.

If at any point your regular doctor needs to know about what hair loss product you are using, this information is easily sent over upon request. These records are kept for you, and your Keeps doctor can personally get in touch with your family doctor if needed.

Finally, the price of the Keeps program is exceptionally low.

Even with the few added costs, it is about half as expensive as many hair treatments out there. Plus, you get the support and the ability to talk to a professional.

Disadvantages Of Using Keeps

The Keeps program is made specifically for men, with most of their products not being made for women. This means that women won’t get as good results from Keeps, nor will you have as many options.

Though even the options for men can be used by women, there is an added risk of side effects with fewer chances of results.

There is also the disadvantage that you cannot simply order the Keeps products.

Filling out the questionnaire may not take a lot of time, but it does take some time. In addition, you are required to submit a photo of your ID here.

Also, having to deal with a doctor may seem like a pain if you are looking for something simple. Taking pictures is another requirement so that your progress can be checked. While the pictures are entirely confidential, the follow-up is something that can be troublesome.

Finally, Keeps does not have a perfect record when it comes to shipping.

The Keeps employees can sometimes be hard to reach, and canceling your plan isn’t as simple as it could be. Sometimes Keeps may send you a shipment after you have already canceled.

Also, Keeps has been known to send incorrect products. Though this is not a mistake that Keeps makes often, the result is that you have to send back the incorrect package and wait for your correct one to arrive.

Keeps HairFinal Thoughts

All in all, men with pattern baldness tend to do great with Keeps.

Between the support, the variety of products, and the other features, Keeps is a really good program. It should cause no surprise that many men highly recommend it.

Women, and men who prefer things to be as simple as possible, may be better suited by using something like Folexin.

There is no questionnaire to fill out, you can still get it right to your home, and there are no unnecessary hoops to go through.

Also, there will not be any mix-up about getting a different product than the one you ordered or having to cancel an order.

Simply put, Keeps is great if you are looking for a complete program but, if you are just looking for a hair loss product without all the extras, you should take a look at Folexin.
