About Us

Christopher Barnes

Christopher Barnes is originally from Waltham, Massachusetts. His passion for science initially grew from his desire to go into medicine. As he progressed through biology in high school, Barnes became more interested in how basic research could prevent disease. After much contemplation regarding what career pathway to choose, molecular biology struck Barnes's interest. Molecular biology was the perfect intersection between his love for biology and enjoyment of chemistry. This career gave Barnes the chance to understand the human body and life on a cellular level.

In 2002, Barnes got accepted into Boston University as a Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major. While working towards his Bachelor's degree, Barnes worked as an Undergraduate Student Researcher at the university. He worked independently to investigate the role of glycosaminoglycan modification in embryo development. After graduating with his Bachelor's degree, he received his MS in Cellular & Developmental Biology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. While finishing his degrees, Barnes worked as both a Research Associate and Staff Scientist. To say this was a busy time for Barnes is an understatement. In 2012, Barnes graduated with his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and began his professional career in the industry.

Barnes continued his position as Staff Scientist for two years after graduating. He worked on various projects, such as creating novel polymerases for next-generation sequencing methods. Although this position was exciting and progressive, Barnes was presented with a new opportunity in San Francisco, California.

In 2014, Barnes began working as an Associate Scientist in Molecular Biology. His experience as a Molecular Biologist taught him not only how to help others in need but how to be compassionate for them, too. Barnes intends to specialize in hair restoration for those suffering from male and female pattern baldness, androgenic alopecia, traction alopecia and alopecia areata, telogen effluvium, etc. Not only is Molecular Biology a stimulating career for Barnes, but it provides an opportunity to be humbled and help those in need.

Through personal experiences, Barnes knows how challenging hair loss can be, and he wants to share his knowledge with a larger audience. Today, Barnes offers various treatment types for others suffering from hair loss. Thanks to Hair Loss Geeks, Barnes has the platform to share these treatments with you. About Us

Kristy Turbeville

Kirsty Turbeville is from Tampa, Florida, where she was set on becoming a personal trainer. Growing up, she was indifferent about the medical field until she enrolled in her high school's health academy; it was there she got a brief taste of the industry. From traveling to different hospitals learning from different progressional, Turbeville knew this was something she wanted to keep exploring. It wasn't long before she applied to schools across the country to study nutrition—the perfect combination between health and fitness.

Upon graduating high school, Turbeville moved to North Carolina to study Public Health with a specialization in Nutrition Science and Research from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During her undergraduate degree, Turbeville worked as a Group Fitness Instructor at a local gym. Graduating with Latin honors, Turbeville rolled directly into Chapel Hill's Master in Nutrition. In 2014, she graduated with her Master's degree and became a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS).

Turbeville began working as a Dietetic Intern in Raleigh, North Carolina. As a Dietetic Intern, she utilized powerchart EMR for the facility, provided nutrition education and counseling to individuals ranging from 20-90 years of age and coded for malnutrition risk.

Turbeville later worked as a Community Nutrition Intern, where she had hands-on experience helping primarily women and children. She worked alongside the Program Supervisor and created nutritional, age-appropriate lesson plans. After only 5 months with the company, Turbeville was promoted to a Nutritionist. Her day-to-day tasks consist of providing nutrition care and counseling to high-risk women, infants, and children.

As a nutritionist, Turbeville was inspired to reach an audience larger than her surrounding community. She began accumulating her lesson plans and nutritional diets to treat various health problems, which was primarily hair loss. Years of Turbeville's research, partnerships and hands-on experiences go into each Hair Loss Geeks blog with care.

Turbeville is eager to share her vast knowledge of dermatology and hair loss with our audience here at Hair Loss Geeks. From homeopathic remedies to dietary supplements, Turbeville can't wait to hear your amazing success stories. See her LinkedIn to learn more!
