This Fidia Farmaceutici company was founded all the way back in 1946 in a place called Bologna, Italy.

Fidia started off very slowly. In fact, it wasn’t until 1975 that it got registered for Ganglioside. Ganglioside is a neuropathic drug that has pharmaceutical uses.

This drug helped Fidia rise to the point where it was the leading pharmaceutical company in Italy at the time.

Therefore, the original name of this lotion essentially means ‘hair loss treatment’ in English. Brotzu lotion is the name it was given to market it and the name that is easier for non-Italians to pronounce.

Dr. Giovanni Brotzu was the main formulator of this lotion, which is why it was eventually called Brotzu lotion in his honor. This doctor is in his 80s and is a respected vascular surgeon in Italy.

One day, while working with his diabetic patients, he noticed that a certain lotion for their limbs tended to make the hair on their limbs grow.

Dr. Brotzu then tested this out on the head of a male nurse who was trying to grow thicker hair. When increased hair growth was noticed, he knew it was time to take the next step. He approached the Fidia company, which tested it and developed it into Brotzu lotion.

The liposomes that are in this lotion are made out of an unspecified polyunsaturated fatty acid.

The three core ingredients of this lotion are dihomo-γ-linolenic acid (DGLA), Propionyl-l-carnitine (PLC), and Equol. Each of these has been developed by Fidia for your hair, and they are found in equal parts in this lotion.

The Core Ingredients

DGLA is a rare type of fatty acid found in infinitesimal amounts in both animal and human bodies. This acid is formed by an enzymatic reaction, and it is then metabolized in your body to make some extremely potent anti-inflammatory compounds, such as thromboxanes and prostanoids.

DGLA also is converting into the prostaglandins PGE1 and PGE2. These two things promote your microcirculation.

PLC is an antioxidant that’s primary focus is to scavenge for free radicals.

Since free radicals are known to be one of the main causes of aging and cause other damage as well, PLC fights aging. This antioxidant has been studied extensively for its ability to help athletes in their sports as well.

Secondly, denatured alcohol combats any greasiness of the other ingredients too.

Lecithin and Polysorbate 20 are emulsifiers that keep the final product at its right consistency and prevent it from separating. Steramine is an anti-foaming agent found in this lotion.

Ethylhexyglycerin and caprylyl glycol are both added as preservatives, with the latter also having antimicrobial properties.

In addition to the PLC antioxidant, another antioxidant called Tocopherol is also included in this lotion. This antioxidant is found in nuts and oils, and it belongs to the Vitamin E compound.

Finally, 1,2-hexanediol and Glycerin are the last two ingredients of this lotion that are added to moisturize your skin.

Men’s Brotzu Lotion Vs. Women’s Brotzu Lotion

The idea of having one lotion for men and another for women is an appealing one for many people. However, some companies have been known to take advantage of this by having two products that are exactly the same and which are simply labeled differently.

Brotzu lotion for men and women does have the same ingredients. The lotion for men, though, does contain more of the Equol than the one for women does. This is because men almost always have higher levels of testosterone and, therefore, need more help getting rid of DHT.

Potential Side Effects Of Brotzu Lotion

During the study that was done on this lotion, the participants did not particularly experience any severe side effects. However, there are certainly some side effects to this hair growth lotion that you should know about.

Compared to other hair growth treatments, Brotzu lotion is still the new kid on the block. One of the downsides of this newness is the lack of available studies.

So far, this lotion has only had one small study on it, which gave fair but not amazing results.

Other hair treatments that have been around longer, such as minoxidil, have tons of studies proving that they work. These also reveal what side effects there are so that, when you use them, you are aware of the risks.
