If you’ve been searching for an oil that is packed full of nutrients and can help you have longer, thicker hair, turn to fenugreek oil. It’s been used as a staple beauty product in Indian households for decades, and it’s now beginning to become popular in mainstream hair care products. The yellowish-brown seeds can be converted into an oil (see recipe below) and provide many benefits for hair.

Prevents Hair Loss

Is hair loss causing you to get fed up? Don’t worry, adding fenugreek oil to your daily routine can help tackle hair loss. The oil is effective in treating the scalp and helping the roots become stronger. If your hair loss is due to a follicular problem, the seeds will help give you an added boost. If your hair loss is from irritation or inflammation, fenugreek oil can help fight dandruff, itchiness, and other bacteria, allowing hair growth to once again be possible.

Fighting Dandruff

As mentioned above, fenugreek oil is a great treatment for dandruff. Scratching your head regularly from the itch can cause your hair to break, then eventually fall out. Bacteria and fungi that are present on your scalp can lead to dandruff! When you add fenugreek oil, the antibacterial and antifungal properties can treat the itch and dandruff, allowing your scalp to become healthy once more.

Added Shine

Are you looking to add more luster to your locks? Who doesn’t want naturally shiny hair? Of course, everyone does. If you condition your hair with this oil, you’ll see an improvement in the shine of your hair, as well as stronger roots!

How To Use Fenugreek Oil

There are a few different ways you can add fenugreek oil to your hair care routine. The first way is to purchase premade oil.

It is important to remember that most of these products are not diluted, so you will need to add a carrier oil, like olive oil or coconut oil. Massage the product into your hair, then rinse after thirty minutes.

If you’re feeling adventurous and want to try creating your own fenugreek oil at home, you can use the following recipe:

  • 3 tablespoons dried fenugreek seeds
  • 6 oz coconut oil
  • 1 small jar
  • 1 larger jar

Combine the seeds with the oil in the small jar, set aside.

Add water to the large jar, then put the small jar inside the larger jar.

You are then going to carefully heat the large jar in boiling water, but being very careful not to boil the coconut oil. After the coconut oil is heated all the way through, carefully remove the smaller jar and set it in a place the receives direct sunlight. You will leave it here for a week.

After one week, strain the seeds and the coconut oil is now ready to be used. Put in a small bottle, or whatever container you prefer, for easy application.

To use this mixture, massage a small amount of the oil into your scalp gently. Leave the oil on for an hour, then rinse with water.

If you repeat this process every other day, whether with your homemade oil or purchased oil, you will begin to see the benefits of fenugreek oil. Remember, a little oil goes a long way. You don’t need to completely saturate your hair to receive the benefits of the oil.
