A receding hairline can be really concerning to see. Even though it does not always mean that you are truly losing your hair, you can never know for sure. This fact is part of what makes this so disconcerting.

But the question is how you should deal with a receding hairline. While you may think there is nothing you could do or that your options are limited, this is not the case. There are a number of different options still available for you to try.

Make Sure To Get Plenty Of Nutrients

If you are even a little deficient in any of the vitamins that your body needs it can easily affect your hair. By making sure that you have extra of what you need, you can encourage your hair to grow.

You can do this by trying to eat a healthy diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables and by getting plenty of sunlight. Try to avoid “empty” foods and junk foods that might taste good but which have no real nutritional content.

However, if your hairline is starting to recede then you may need to do more than this. You should take vitamins and supplements either in the form of a daily multivitamin. If you know that you are deficient in any specific vitamin, you should take some of that vitamin in particular.

There are six main nutrients that your hair particularly needs. Vitamin A and Vitamin D are both vital ones that your cells need to form properly and grow. The B Vitamins and Iron are needed in order to carry oxygen and other things to your scalp.

Vitamin C helps protect your hair and keep it looking shiny and healthy. Lastly, Vitamin E also is used to protect your hair as well as when your follicles are forming your hair. While these are the main vitamins that your body needs, there are other vitamins and minerals that you need too and these should not be neglected.

Use Something To Encourage Hair Growth

If you are just starting to lose some of the hair along your hairline, then now is the time that you should start treating your hair loss. There are a variety of ways that you can do this ranging from serious treatments to more casual ones.

One thing that you can do is start taking something like Folexin. This is a daily pill that is made from natural ingredients. In a way it is somewhat like taking a vitamin that is specifically made to help your hair grow.

This option, and ones like it, are just as simple as taking a vitamin pill and they generally have few if any side effects. If you want to do something for your receding hairline without going through any extra trouble, then this can be a great option.

If you are more serious about that receding hairline, then there are other things that you can try. Some of these hair growth treatments involve putting some foam or liquid directly on your scalp every day.

While these are certainly a lot more trouble, if you are really concerned bout your hair then you may think that it is worth it. These options do tend to have more possible side effects. However, they are often better suited for you if hair loss runs in your family.

This choice will also depend on how quickly and how far your hairline is receding. If your hair is receding quickly and quite noticeably, a pill type hair growth product might not be enough to truly make a difference.

In this case you may need to go with something like minoxidil which you can put directly on your hair. Though you should be forewarned that in this case it will take longer for you to see results.

Stay Positive And Healthy

Staying positive might not seem like much, but it can truly help your hair. This is because stress all by itself can weaken your immune system. Stress can also signal your body to make more of certain hormones that your body makes when you are in a “fight or flight” situation.

These hormones negatively affect your hair in more than one way. They not only make your hair fall out, but they can also make your hair gray earlier. Therefore it is extremely important that you try to avoid getting stressed. The longer the amount of time and the more often you get stressed, the more damage it is likely to do to your hair.

When it comes to your health, this is an equally important area for you to try to improve. Anytime you get sick or injured your body has to devote energy and nutrients to get you well again. If you are already low in these nutrients, your body will not have enough to give to your hair.

Long illnesses and things like fungal infections are particularly bad for your hair for this reason. Even if you do not think that it is bad enough to do anything about a mild infection, you should always take care of it immediately.

Keep in mind that your body views things like your hair as the last things on its list of priorities. This means that if your body needs nutrients for any other reason at all that it is your hair that will get short-cheated.

To help yourself stay both healthy and calm, you should take care of yourself. Consider picking up something like yoga or drink a cup of an herbal tea each day to help get yourself relaxed and to boost your immune system.

Treat Your Hair Carefully

In order to help your hair stay in its place, you should take extra care of your hair. One of the ways that you can do this is by not washing your hair too frequently. This can cause damage to your hair, stripping it as it cleans it.

There are plenty of shampoos that can help with your hair, but even these should not be used too often. Try not to wash your hair any more often than once a day at the very most.

This same thing goes for hair styling products. While you may use these on a regular basis, try to pick ones that do not have so many chemicals in them. Also, avoid putting too much of these products in your hair.

In fact, this same thing also applies to any form of chemicals that might damage your hair. If you do a lot of swimming in chlorinated pools, consider wearing a swim cap. If there are a lot of chemicals around where you work, wear a hat.

Style Your Hair Differently

Depending on what hairstyle you usually go with, your current hairstyle may be one that clearly shows to all that you are losing your hair. Since this is not something you want to show off, it is probably time for a new hairstyle.

Certain hair gels can make your hair seem fuller, which can be a great addition if your hair seems to be getting thin. As a general rule, wet styling products make your hair clump together, so dry powders are often the better choice and give your hair more volume.

Just remember to not apply too much of these. Basically, you should simply avoid pulling your hair back from your forehead. Instead, have your hair laying to one side or even forward if possible so that your hairline is not visible.

There are certain hair cuts that are good to hide the fact that your hairline is receding too. One of these is called a “Caesar” cut which has the sides and the back cut to be shorter than the top and front. This can do a great job of hiding a receding hairline.

The other two main options that you can choose from is to do either a buzz cut or to let your hair grow out longer. With a buzz cut it can be hard to see exactly where your hairline is. Meanwhile longer hair can hide your hairline completely, especially if you get bangs.

As a last resort, it is always possible to change your hairstyle by wearing a wig. While the wigs that are made with real hair are more expensive, they can look entirely natural. They are also available for both men and women.

Hair Transplants

While a hair transplant might sound a little excessive, it may be the only option. If you are losing your hair due to your family genetics, then there may be nothing you can do to grow your hair back. However, a transplant might work perfectly for you.

When you have a hair transplant your doctor takes away an area where your hair is growing strong and healthy. Then they place it on your head in the front where your hair has stopped growing. They do not do this all at once, usually spanning this process out over multiple procedures.

This can be done two different ways. The first is taking a patch of skin with hair and moving it. Meanwhile, the other is to take the individual hair follicles and move them. While the latter is less noticeable, it is also obviously more time consuming with each procedure taking hours.

When your hair first changes places, it will usually start over its growth cycle. This means that the hair that has been moved will fall out. While this can be concerning at first, it is perfectly normal. New hair should start to grow back within a few months.

Getting a hair transplant is not always successful, and it can be quite expensive. But, if all else fails, then this is still an option that you can choose to go with. There are different surgeries that you can go with that are specifically for a receding hairline, so make sure that you find the best one to suit your situation.

Final Thoughts

If you are in your 30s or 40s then you have likely already started showing some signs of your hairline moving back. Over 8 out of every 10 men have had their hairline noticeably recede before they reach the age of 50.

There is such a thing as a maturing hairline, and this is rarely something to worry about, but if your hairline is truly receding than this is something that you should not wait around about. However, you have hopefully noticed now that there are plenty of options available to you.

And the options I listed where only the tip of the iceberg. There are other options such as getting stem cell treatment, low-level laser therapy, hair growth shampoos, and more. Finally, there is the option to do nothing, let nature take its course, and accept that your receding hairline is simply a part of you.
